"SuperRuby/Ida/Mimi"

The prototype Ruby locomotive undergoing it's first run under steam with the new 9/16" bore cylinders.

The standard engine has 3/8" bore cylinders, these are the same size as a standard Mamod or Jane locomotive.

2.1mm of material has to be removed from either end of the cylinder mounting bracket, this would be best done with a milling machine, but with a little care a hand file would be just as good.

The cylinders for Ruby are identical to the Excelsior replacement cylinders.

The cylinder assembly's will be ready to bolt on (fully assembled) no further work being required.

Pistons and rods for the second batch await assembly and fitting of silicone 'O' rings before being added to the cylinder assembly's.
The finished "Ruby" locomotive undergoing running trials on the MLR rolling road.

Please note two types of Ruby locomotives are in circulation, early types as in the above pictures have 1/8" (3.175mm) diameter piston rods, later types having 3mm (.118") diameter piston rods, locomotive type & piston rod diameter information must be supplied with your initial order.

Details for ordering can be found on the "SuperExcelsior" web page.

A fitting service is also available at cost if required, please phone for more details.
